The products of sensiQoL AG were developed and tested within the cooperation projects between colleges, universities and practical partners.
In 2004, eight institutions for disabled, health and social services addressed the Institute of Education (IFE) of the University of Zurich (UZH). These institutions had a need for products to support them in quality assurance. Neither the structural (e.g. room furnishing) nor the procedural (e.g. admission process of clients or patients) quality assurance were in the foreground, since binding guidelines and certifications already exist in these areas. The need was to record and ensure the quality of results - the satisfaction of the people cared for. The checklists used in practice or the self-developed evaluation forms were not satisfactory.
Together with several institutions from the disability, health and social sectors, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (Institute for Health Economics), the software company onlineumfragen.com GmbH, the University of Zurich (Institute of Education, Department of Special Education) launched several research projects. The primary goal of the first projects was to develop online-based tools for recording, analysing and improving the quality of life of people in need of support. This is how the basic features of the product «BASIC» were developed. The development was promoted and supported by Innosuisse, the Swiss Agency for Innovation Promotion and CURAVIVA Switzerland (Heimverband Schweiz).
When the project-related development of the mentioned products was completed in 2011, the question of their establishment and dissemination in practice arose. None of the participating research partners had the possibilities and resources. Two employees of the University of Zurich, David Oberholzer and René Stalder, as well as one employee of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences Zurich (Institute for Health Economics), Michael Früh, dared to take the step into entrepreneurship. In August 2011, sensiQoL was founded as a public limited company as a spin-off of the University of Zurich and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
Since the company was founded, the instruments have been systematically developed and improved. In addition, the range has been supplemented by other products (MAZ, ZEMBA) and services. sensiQoL AG also worked closely with cooperation partners from practice and science on their developments.
